Visiting Orava

Have you ever been to Slovakia? If yes, have you visited Orava, region in the Norht of this beautiful country? If you are planning to go there, there are places you shouldn´t miss.

Oravský Zámok (Orava Castle)

Castle placed on the top of the hill in small village called Oravský Podzámok is place you sholnd visit. First historical mentions about Orava Castle are dated in 1267. It´s a beautifull place to visit, and we all are proud of it. Many movies were made there and I´m sure you will like it.

Slanický Ostrov ( Slanica Island )

In the middle of Orava Dam there is a small island which remained after dam was built and many villages were flooded. The only way to get there is by boat from Slanica Docks, but you can be sure you won´t regret it. On the Island there is beautifull church which is now galery of art.
From June to July each year classical music concerts are held in the church's exhibition hall as part of the "Orava Summer of Music" festival.
Except visiting Island you´ll be able to see Orava Dam, Námestovo, Bird Island while sailing around the Lake. Don´t miss it.

Múzeum Oravskej Dediny ( Open Air Museum of Orava )

This open-air museum is situated at the foot of mountains - Roháče in the West Tatra. You can find here agricultural and ordinary buildings (houses, agricultural buildings, larders, haylofts, a chalet and others) sacral buildings (a wooden church, churchyard, belfries) and the Orava craftsmen's buildings (a craftsman's house, a mill and a sawmill, a smithery, and others).
The museum is in fact a small village which was first opened in 1975 and it has been very popular ever since.

Oravice ( Oravice spa)

Thermal pools at Oravice, also open year-round. Water here is really hot, up to 54 degrees Celsius. There's also a warm pool that clocks in at around 40 degrees Celsius. The pools are spring-fed and naturally rich in minerals, and surrounded by lovely mountain views.
It a great place where you can relax after long trip with whole family and friends.

Hope you´ll enjoy your stay here.
